Re: Was SodaHead forced to keep us out?
from JMPGoatjumper on 06/07/2015 04:32 AMFef and his bitch-boy, Lonnie are liars in my opinion. Spineless simps. I would not believe ANYTHING they say and it's funny that they somehow blamed the community for the hasty shutdown.
Ironically, it's amusing that Sorta-dead was taken down right after the Patriot act expired

Re: Gardens
from Freeranger on 06/07/2015 04:12 AMI sorely miss cow manure.....how's that for a confession?
My resource dried up. I find I have to rely more on chemical fertilizer which, while easier than cow poo, doesn't enrich or build up the soil. Mine is fairly acidic, so I have to really sock the lime to it. Tonight I just finished getting a four foot fence around my highbush blueberries, which are producing for the first time this year. The bushes are only around three and a half feet, but they'll keep growing to somewhere around six. I'm gonna have to get netting I'm sure.
Our in my fields, with that being so acidic, the natural low bush blueberries are everwhere......I expect once they ripen it will be quite a crop.
Re: A Dirge to Sodahead
from Kat on 06/07/2015 03:32 AMSodahead was unique. But I disagree with Fef and the people that bought it. It was the members that made it popular not them. We did go there daily sometimes many times a day to talk to friends and check happenings. What they did was low.

Jaw-Dropping Visualization Will Give You New Respect For The Sheer Number Who Died In WWII
The Huffington Post | By Ryan Grenoble
It's all too easy to think of anything counted in the millions as an abstraction -- even if it's World War II, and the topic at hand is the millions of lives lost.
That's what makes "The Fallen of World War II," a short visualization by filmmaker Neil Halloran, so impactful. The 18-minute long video, released on Memorial Day, breaks down the war's tragedies with a deeply engaging look at the shocking number of people who died, where they came from and how they lost their lives.
Half a million Nazis died in the (failed) battle of Stalingrad alone, with another 100,000 taken prisoner. But for the USSR, victory came at an even steeper price, as the Soviets lost nearly twice as many soldiers as the Nazis in that battle alone.
In all, at least 8.7 million Soviet soldiers died in World War II (Halloran notes that some estimates place the tally as high as 14 million). That number becomes all the more eye-popping when compared to the losses incurred by other countries.
The video (below, my emphasis) accounts for deaths of both soldiers and civilians, and then puts those figures into context relative to wars that came before and after. "More people died in World War II than in any other war in history," Halloran reminds viewers.
He then drives home that point with comparisons to the numbers killed in World War I, by Mao and Stalin, and in other major conflicts. The chart below compares the deaths suffered during World War II to those of subsequent wars:
A more interactive version of the project is visible on the film's website, where donations can also be made in support of Halloran's efforts.
