Not really. Some people are just bad at handshaking. It has nothing to do with there personality.

Most often a handshake along with the way a person stands and making eye contact tells me all I need to know. So called "Wet fish" handshake is not always a bad indicator...lots of other actions a person does with a WF handshake can "Cancel"  a poor handshake.

Yes and No. With some you can tell by a weak handshake and no eye contact that that they are uncomfortable with people in general, but with others it may mean nothing and you need to know them for awhile to see that they have a strong character but are not into the preliminaries of introductions. No one handshake is a indicator of the person.

I agree, you can't really tell.  Some folks just don't realize they don't have a firm handshake.  Then there are the "bone crushers" and it hurts especially if you have arthritic hands.

Great question.  Glad to see you found us ex-pats here!

Ever notice a politican's handshake?  They limply take your hand, but are looking over your shoulder to the next opportunity.  My dad always said to look someone squarely in the eye when you take their hand, then shake it like you're earnest.....

I think you can.  A strong handshake to me indicates confidence.  There is nothing worse than a limp handshake.

not really IMO, my ex had a great handshake but he still was an abuser but no one knew how he was at home. Including him, I have still had many of a person look me in the eye & still lie, these people learn these behaviors & then use them against you.
