Do you think you should be able to fly the American flag on your porch?

According to the Suffork News Herald, Toner's mother, from whom he rents the condo, had received written permission from the Belmont Park Homeowner's Association's property management company to fly the flag. Now, the HOA is demanding he take down the flag.

"My position is, if you are restricting a flag holder, you are restricting the American flag by association. It's an American flag; you should never have to take down one if it's reasonably displayed."

I totally agree with Toner's stance. What are your thoughts on being able to fly the American flag on your porch?

That is why I refuse to live under the purview of a homeowners association.  I'll be damned if I am going to pay them to tell me what I can and can't do with my property.

this is about conformity and drone mentality of everybody being the same.

I really like my privacy, its nothing personal against anyone here. especially in light of having accounts locked on sodahead.

I should be able to fly what ever I darn well please BUT I should be ready to deal with it in my social life and shopping at the local businessis.
They should not be able to FORCE me to take it down but they sure should be able to let me know how they feel about it.

Yes, definitely. If his mother, who owns the condo, has written permission to fly the flag, then he shouldn't have to take it down, especially when it is properly displayed.

Written permission should not be required to fly the flag of America in America.  Interesting that the flag can be burned but not flown. Up is down and right is left.

Very much so, I wouldn't live anywhere where I couldn't hang out my flag.

No one should ever be able to anyone that they hae to take a US flag down. It's the United States & as long as you are on US soil, no one should be able to make you take our flag down.
