We should listen to the three, as the heart and/or the guts alone might go too far or miss the target, hence, the brain allows to coordinate emotions, support logical, feasible, more efficient action and avoid "crash landings".

I interpreted:
heart = emotions, devotion, ideals, good intentions
guts = boldness, taking risks, gambling
brain = thinking, knowledge, plannning, coordination, learning

My gut.........it tells me when it's time to eat.  Every once in a while, I even have a salad.
