Good for the fine Governor.  IMO a flag made in China is NOT an American flag....it's a Chinese flag with stripes and stars on it.  China crap makes me sick.

Do you support Florida’s big decision about the American flag?

The state of Florida loves making headlines. But this time, it isn't bad news!

Our Founding Fathers at the Continental Congress adopted the original design of the American flag in 1777. With 13 stars and 13 red and white stripes... the flag has come a long way. And it symbolizes the freedoms that so many fought and died for. America is truly the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Florida Governor Rick Scott recently took an extra step in defending the American flag. He is mandating that all cities and counties within the state only buy American flags which are made in America.

That means no cheap knockoffs from China and other foreign countries. These are American flags, made by American workers for the American people. Awesome!

The "All American Flag Act" was one of 47 bills Scott signed Thursday, June 11th.

Local government and state agencies will have to start following the flag mandate after Jan. 1, 2016. Information compiled by legislative staff showed the vast majority of flags bought in the state are already American-made.

The flag bill triggered a debate on the House floor.

Some [...] said they could not support the legislation, because they said it was anti-competitive. But other lawmakers said taxpayer money should not be spent on flags made in other countries like China.

The small cost for this change is certainly worth it. It sends a strong, symbolic message in favor of American workers. The flags they make are the best, and should be flown with pride!
